It was getting mundane at a family event when my cousin Vinny and I thought of playing some game, but there was no place around. That’s when Vinny came up with something very creative.

Have you ever heard about Fridge Scrabble? Yes, it’s for real. My cousin started putting all the alphabets and number fridge magnets on the fridge, and without thinking for a second, we made the fridge our playboard. When dad saw us playing fridge scrabble, he said it was a great way to explore creativity away from technology.

When mom came to get something from the fridge, dad said it was no more a regular fridge, as it was out of commission and had become a scrabble board as the scrabblers had moved in! We’re back in the old school.

Soon many letters needed to be included, so we used numbers as letters. It took a lot of work to say who would win the game. My cousin was too sweet to give me hints when I got stuck. And as always, I won the game. It was another great victory. At that very moment, we decided that we would play it again the next time.

What was the first game you designed with your cousins?
