Namaste lovely people! And welcome back to my brand-new travel series, India Through the Eyes of an NRI Kid! We are headed towards the highlight of our trip—RANN UTSAV! And let me tell you guys, it’s absolutely INSANE! Seriously, I’m still buzzing! We started with a breakfast feast – parathas and dosas at the Vijay Vilas Heritage Resort, yum! Then, it was finally time for the main event: Rann Utsav!
As soon as we arrived at Tent City, it was like stepping into another world! We got the royal treatment – aarti thali, tikka, and a shawl! The reception area was covered in this fantastic white Lippan art, so cool! Outside, there was live dhol music and a Kachchhi Ghodi dance! Everyone was dancing, even Dad! I joined in, and it was so much fun!
After that, we checked into our Rajwadi tent, and WOW! It was like a mini palace! Super spacious and luxurious! We got settled and then headed straight to the workshops. First up, pottery! I tried making a little clay house, which was harder than it looked! But so much fun! Then, we did Lippan art, which is like mirror work painting. It was so sparkly and pretty! We also tried Ajrakh block printing, which is like stamping designs on fabric. So cool!
Next, we hopped onto a camel cart and traveled to the Rann desert! It was so vast and white that it felt like another planet! We took tons of pictures! When we returned to Tent City, I added some finishing touches to my clay house. Then, we went to a leather art workshop! I learned how to make a little keychain, which was awesome!
We walked around Tent City, checking out all the incredible art installations! Everything was so colorful and creative! Then, it was dinner time! We had the most delicious Kutchi food! So many flavors!
But the best part was the night gala! There were cultural dance programs, and they were terrific! The dancers were so talented, and the music was so lively! Everyone was clapping and cheering! It was the perfect way to end an epic day! I’m so tired, but it was totally worth it! Can’t wait for what tomorrow brings!
