With spring just around the corner, my dad and I eagerly embarked on a plant shopping adventure to kickstart our gardening project. We decided to invest in two boxes of Azomite and a whopping 20 bags of soil. This extensive soil stock was crucial for my plan to revamp the garden’s foundation.

Dad counted each bag to ensure nothing went awry. Our car, post-loading, had that distinct earthy or, as dad humorously put it, “chicken poop” fragrance.

As we began unloading the bags, dad asked me to stack the bags like a giant game of Jenga. The bags formed impressive, albeit slightly precarious, towers. Once I ascended to the top, it felt as though I had been crowned the “Queen of Soil.”

Then came the real work. We untangled a substantial pipe and connected the spray canister, which held the plant treatments. Dad patiently instructed me on how to wield it correctly.

We had the next day meticulously planned, which involved some soil excavation.

It was not just a gardening day for me and Dad but a cherished family time and an opportunity to reconnect with nature. When was the last time you spent quality time with your dad while doing something you love? Write us and join us in our 365 days of fun.
