I was in my room when the doorbell rang. I went running to see who it was. I saw my dad with a massive tower of gifts as I opened the door. Dad had got me graduation gifts. He read my T-shirt, which said grade’s five nailed it, the Stratford way! I was thrilled and started jumping with excitement as I was heading to middle school. Dad mentioned getting the gift with loads of significance.

We went inside the house and sat on the swing. I started opening the gift without any hesitation. Dad first took a newspaper from the gift box and started asking why everyone should read a newspaper. I was getting impatient and tried to bring his attention back to the gifts, and I couldn’t wait.

I started from the top. Every gift in the boxes had its own significance. The 1st box was filled with chocolates, and dad said chocolate signifies always staying sweet. In the 2nd box, there were toffees – which indicates that sometimes you’re chewy, sometimes you’re strong, and sometimes you’re colorful, so always stay bright.

Dad is great at relating things with life, and I complimented dad for his little poetry. I said he should become a poet, but he couldn’t agree. 3rd box had cookies. Dad said I have entered middle school and should start packing my lunch and not depend on mom for it.

The next box had a Bake in Brooklyn Pita Chips, a bit sweet inside and salty outside. The 5th box had a combination of a sweet and salty snack. So, I didn’t have to be stuck with one thing.

Then there was a balloon in the magical box. Dad said it signified the mind and the mood should not pop. We got to protect it as it’s delicate. He continued by saying that when I don’t know something, it’s always my fault and not always the teacher’s fault. Then I got Gap’s hoodie. I said it signified never to take gaps in work.

The last and the massive box had a MacBook! Dad said I should learn video editing on it for Diary with Dad. Write blogs and prep for middle school on it. I got all excited.

Dad told me not to watch TV on it and put it to good use. I didn’t know how to use a MacBook, so dad said my brother would teach me. Dad said it was a gift from my brother, grandpa, grandma, mom, and him.

Dad said he got a tower gift for my brother, too, as he did well in his 10th grade.
