Some days feel less like travel and more like stepping into a dream—today was one of those. It was a rollercoaster of altitude, deserts, rainbows, and even… hot springs in the middle of nowhere.
⛰️ Khardung La – Head-Spinning Heights
Before reaching Nubra, we had to conquer the road—Khardung La, the highest motorable pass in the world. At 18,380 ft, my head was spinning (partly altitude, partly car sickness—whewf!).
But then—snow-laced peaks, dark blue skies, and those colorful prayer flags made it all worth it.
And yes, hot Maggi at the top? The real reason I powered through. 🍜✨
🌈 A Rainbow Welcome
As we descended into Nubra Valley, nature decided to greet us with a rainbow stretched across the sky. It felt like Ladakh itself was saying “welcome home.”
🏜️ Sand Dunes & Snow Peaks
This is where my brain hit a pause. In front of me—vast sand dunes. Behind me—snow-capped mountains. Sand and snow, side by side?!
We left our footprints on the golden dunes and even hopped on camels.
♨️ Hot Springs Surprise
Just when I thought Ladakh couldn’t shock me anymore, we found steam rising from the ground. Natural hot springs—bubbling in the middle of this cool, breezy valley.
🌊 Yarab Tso – The Hidden Jewel
Further ahead, we spotted Yarab Tso, a pristine lake that shimmered like a mirror. We couldn’t drive closer (soft ground = stuck car), but honestly, some views are meant to be admired from a little distance. This was one of them.
💧 Waterfalls in the Desert?!
On our drive, Dad’s eagle eyes caught something impossible—waterfalls tumbling down rocky cliffs. In the desert!
🌌 Night at Kyagar Hotel
Back at Kyagar Hotel, we tried nettle soup (funky-looking but actually tasty and detoxifying), paneer tikka, and the dessert trio of dreams: caramel pudding, brownie, and gulab jamun.
Then we lay under the stars from our room window, too full and too happy to move. What else could I ask for?
🌟 Takeaway of the Day
If Ladakh has taught me one thing, it’s this—here, the impossible happens daily. Rainbows, deserts, snow, hot springs, waterfalls—all in a single day.
Stay tuned… Day 5 is next, and trust me, the surprises aren’t slowing down!
