Diary with Dad

WELCOME TO MY DIARY WITH DAD

I am Keyaa Shah, a 13-year-old digital creator living in the USA, but my heart? It belongs to India.

Every summer, as the plane touches down, a rush of warmth fills me—the familiar scent of the monsoon-soaked earth, the laughter echoing through narrow streets, the colors, the chaos, the calm. This is home. But for many kids like me growing up abroad, India feels like a distant land—one they struggle to connect with, one they aren’t sure they belong to.

That’s why I created Diary with Dad (DWD)—a journey of rediscovery, one story at a time. Through my Instagram and YouTube, I bring India to life—not just as a tourist destination, but as a place of roots, heritage, and heart.

Our content is raw, real, and first-cut original—because India isn’t just about monuments and festivals; it’s about the small joys that make you feel alive. The taste of mangoes in the summer heat. The ringing bells of a morning temple visit. The chaos of a bustling market where every vendor has a story to tell. I want to show the world, especially kids like me, the beautiful, fun, and deeply emotional side of India—the one I fell in love with, thanks to my dad.

But not everyone gets to see this India. Many kids growing up abroad aren’t excited about coming here—they see only the heat, the dust, the unfamiliar. I want to change that. I want to be the voice of India that speaks to them, showing them that this country is more than just a place—it’s a feeling. It’s a connection that never fades, no matter how far you go.

Even when I’m not in India, I find ways to keep my heritage alive—through traditions, through stories, through the little things that make me who I am. And when summer arrives, I come back—not just to visit, but to explore, to understand, to belong.

I’ve just launched my series, India Through the Eyes of an NRI Child, starting with the vast white landscapes of Kutch and Bhuj. Over the next three months, I’ll take you through the misty hills of Coorg, the rugged beauty of Leh-Ladakh, the golden beaches of Goa, the electric streets of Mumbai, and so much more.

Join me on this journey, as we uncover India—not just through sights, but through stories that stay with you forever.

Because India isn’t just where I come from—it’s who I am. And through my journey, I hope to inspire others to find their own piece of home, wherever they are in the world.

India Through the Eyes of an NRI Kid

Though I live in the USA, India is where my heart belongs. Every year, I return—not just to visit, but to rediscover my roots, explore hidden gems, and embrace the rich traditions that connect me to my heritage.
India Through the Eyes of an NRI Kid, I share my journey beyond the usual tourist spots—capturing India’s beauty, culture, and everyday magic. My goal is to inspire kids like me to see India not just as a place, but as a part of who we are.

WELCOME TO DWD

HANDY LADY

They always say when something breaks, they call the handyman, but in my house, my dad calls for the “Handy Lady” (shsss, it’s me).

COOKING

I love cooking with my dad and dishing out new recipes. He’s a great cook and we have lots of fun in the kitchen! He is fun, creative, and I get his undivided attention (daddy’s girl).

DESSERT SPECIALS

Who does not like desserts? Me? I just love it! Dessert Party with Dad is so cool, it makes me laugh. I got my sweet tooth from my dad. We always have a great time making desserts.

LIFE LESSON

Learning life lessons can seem quite boring. Nah, not with my dad. My dad has never given a big lecture or taught life lessons directly, but somehow, he always manages to teach me what life is all about and practical ways to handle it. My dad does a great job teaching me all kinds of things. I know I always have someone to go to if I have a problem.

HEALTH & HAPPINESS

Do you skip eating veggies? Me? Nah, never. I am not forced to eat Broccoli or any veggies because dad teaches me why it is good and how it will help me grow healthy and happy. You’re never too young to be healthy! My dad does a great job showing me that healthy food is good.

NOTHING IS BORING

Have you ever had a moment where you do not want to go to the party or just poof escape? Well, my dad has a way for everything to look so cool and fun to attend. Partying with him is so much fun! We have fun together, no matter what. Even if I don’t want to do something, my dad can make it fun.

FUN ACTIVITIES

When did you last enjoy a fun day with your father? Me, almost every day. But there are more Funday’s of my life, which are some special treats of my life. You should also try it sometimes.

SPECIAL MOMENTS

These ones I love the most. We two quietly bond over weekends, movies, and popcorns like the special secret moment of our life. It feels like a treat. Every moment is special. I love when me and my dad spend time together. It’s the best.

SMALL JOYS OF MY LIFE

It does not take a lot to have fun. Why you ask? Because the smallest of things I do with my father is what I enjoy. We can have fun anywhere. Whenever I’m with my dad, we smile and laugh like crazy.

STRESS RELIEVERS

This is something I recommend everyone should do. We keep each other calm and become stress-busting balloons filled with laughing gas to help relax and create a fun atmosphere. Whenever I have a bad day, I know I can count on my dad to make me smile and have some fun.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

Ahah! Shopping! Movies! I just love to hang out with my dad. He is my Daddy Cool, with whom I do some amazingly crazy things and make him participate too. We love to shop, watch movies, and play games. I just love to hang out with my dad.
